Testimonal from Ben Makowiecki, Area Director, Agriculture, East England, Lloyds SME Banking:
“Max spoke at our recent Food & Drink event and did a brilliant job, including teeing up his talk by promising delegates that he was going to “predict the future of the industry”, which drew the biggest audience of the day. Max then proceeded to give a highly entertaining and thought provoking presentation, which did as he had advertised.
What stood out for me, and was commented on by a huge number of delegates, was Max’s passion for his subject and for the industry. This had been previously demonstrated by his “Great Fruit & Veg Adventure”, but in this case produced a highly engaging presentation.”
Testimonial from Julie Robinson, Partner, Roythornes Solicitors:
“Max was his usual entertaining and insightful self, giving us his unique, no holds barred take on trends within the fresh produce sector.”
Max is the Founder of The Great Fruit & Veg Adventure which is looking to make kids and their families more aware and to consume more great fresh produce. He and his team also instigated the fast-growing Beanstalk.Global initiative. This is a Social Enterprise that supports, educates and promotes the Global fresh food industry to help it thrive and grow faster. Born into a fruit growing family, Ian graduated from the University of Greenwich/Hadlow College with a degree in Commercial Horticulture. Spending a few years working in the New Zealand fruit industry, he returned to England to find fame and fortune as a Fruit Adviser.
An organic produce enthusiast, Ian joined Tesco as a Technical Manager in fresh produce. Despite his “fruity” background Ian rose to the challenge of managing a wide range of veg and salad categories. A job he did so well he became the Category Technical Manager for Organic produce.
A decade later Ian joined Wight Salads Group as Technical Director, mastering the tricky job of keeping legions of retailers happy whilst the company went through an extended period of change.
Returning to his farming roots in 2009 Ian remained keen to be involved in the fresh produce sector.
With 15 years experience (on both sides of the fence) Ian possesses a detailed understanding of, and empathy for, the challenges of food retail. This enables him to pin-point the most suitable individuals for leading clients in the fresh produce, agriculture and FMCG food sectors.
