We caught up on site with the very impressive Alex Pearson of Suffolk Fresh at their Blakenham nursery at Bramford in Suffolk in the UK. The site is the first semi closed hydroponic glasshouse in the UK and is the size of 11 football pitches – 8.4 hectares. They will be growing around 3.5 million kilos of tomatoes during the 2024 season with a focus on quality and environmental processes, using their cutting-edge technology to create the best growing conditions to produce tasty tomatoes for a number of key retailers and most importantly the consumer.
