Our client grows high quality strawberries under modern glass for many of the major UK multiples. Over the last 5 years the company has made significant investments expanding, modernising and equipping their site. As part of its ongoing growth strategy and future development plans, the company now seeks to appoint an Assistant Grower Manager to join its management team.
Overall Responsibility
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will assist in all stages of crop production and harvesting and will ensure that the company achieve maximum operational efficiency while maintaining standards of excellence.
The Candidate
The Assistant Grower Manager will:
- Have a couple of years protected-cropping growing experience
- Have a recognised qualification in horticulture
- Be a dynamic ‘hands-on’ grower / manager
- Manage permanent and seasonal employees on a day to day basis
- Have a working knowledge of retailer GAP standards
- Be computer literate with knowledge of computer control systems
- Ability to inspire, enthuse & motivate a team to better production levels
- Hard-working self-starter with the ability to develop better solutions
- Highly professional approach to all aspects of work
