UK Agriculture & Food Sector
A unique opportunity to join the Board of a highly regarded organisation operating at the heart of the UK agriculture, food and rural sectors. Redfox Executive Selection has been asked to identify an experienced senior finance professional who can bring strong financial governance, commercial judgement and strategic thinking to an established and influential organisation.
This is not a full-time executive finance position.
It is an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to contribute their expertise at Board level while helping support the long-term direction and financial sustainability of an organisation with an important role across UK agriculture and food.
THE ROLE
Working alongside fellow Board members and external professional advisers, you will provide senior financial oversight while contributing to the wider strategic leadership of the organisation.
Responsibilities will include:
• Providing clear financial insight to the Board
• Reviewing management accounts, budgets and cash-flow forecasts
• Monitoring financial performance, risks and opportunities
• Supporting annual budgeting and longer-term financial planning
• Maintaining appropriate financial governance and controls
• Working with external accountants, auditors and professional advisers
• Providing constructive commercial challenge and advice
• Helping the Board make well-informed strategic and financial decisions
• Supporting the organisation’s continued financial sustainability and development
Importantly, this is broader than simply reporting the numbers.
The successful individual will be expected to operate as an engaged Board member, contributing their experience, judgement and perspective to wider discussions around the future direction of the organisation.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are keen to hear from individuals with a strong financial background who would enjoy applying their experience within an organisation connected to UK agriculture and food.
You could currently be operating as a:
Finance Director | CFO | Financial Controller | Treasurer | NED | Trustee | Senior Finance Professional
Ideally you will bring:
• A recognised accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or comparable senior financial expertise
• Strong experience of financial governance, budgeting and reporting
• The ability to interpret financial information and communicate it clearly to non-financial colleagues
• Sound commercial judgement
• Strategic thinking and an ability to see beyond the numbers
• A collaborative and constructive Board-level approach
Previous Board, Treasurer, Trustee or NED experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
Experience or a strong connection to agriculture, food, the rural economy, membership organisations, events or the not-for-profit sector would also be particularly relevant.
THE COMMITMENT
The anticipated commitment is approximately 2–3 days per month.
This will include regular Board meetings, preparation and presentation of financial information and additional involvement around budgeting, year-end reporting and key periods within the organisation’s annual programme.
The appointment attracts:
£5,000 annual honorarium + reasonable expenses
