Our client has a rich history dating back over two centuries. Their core aim is promoting agriculture and rural life in the East of England. With some very positive developments occurring within their business, they have created a new role of Business Development Manager as they embark on a new positive strategy focused on agriculture (and related sectors), large scale event management and related education.
As a business they have a very strong financial and resource base and seek an individual to lead its activities to use its resources to help its members and improve Agri Food industry performance nationwide. As such, they are seeking an individual working in the agri food/horticultural/fresh produce sectors industry with a desire to contribute to the positive development of the sector and community over the next decade. It is truly a unique role for the right individual. To be able to partner with the key Board members to create a new image for the client as well as developing the organisations role in promoting and facilitating the introduction of new technologies to the agricultural and food industries in the region cannot be overlooked.
They wish you to become a key figurehead for the sectors community and work with all of the key internal and external contacts to improve the performance and image of the agri food/horticultural and fresh produce sectors. There is also a huge scope to extend their educational activities to cover secondary education, college level and career development ongoing. The opportunities for the business if directly correctly with your professionalism and input are limitless.
What do we want to see from you?
You need to know and understand the sectors you will be aligned too. You need to be an established member of the agricultural/horticultural/fresh produce community. To achieve the key role objectives will need excellent contacts and the ability to quickly gain respect. As you would expect, you will ideally have management experience at general/ functional level in the sectors with budget responsibility combined with proven people management, communication and marketing skills. Sound knowledge of farming and agriculture/horticulture is a prerequisite. Education to Degree level or equivalent would be seen as advantageous.
