The East of England Agricultural Society is a registered agricultural charity, currently based at the East of England Showground in Peterborough. The Society has a very rich history dating back to 1797 and their core goals centre around promoting agriculture and rural life in the East of England.
Due to exciting developments within the Society a role has been created of Development Manager as it embarks on a new positive strategy focused on agriculture and related education.
The Society has a strong financial and resource base and seeks a key individual on a development basis to lead its activities to use its resources to help its members and improve Agri Food industry performance nationwide.
The key element for the role is to lead and develop the Society’s Agricultural and Educational activities to the benefit of its members and others in the rural community. As such, we are seeking an individual working in the Agri Food industry with a desire to contribute to the positive development of the sector and the community over the next decade.
This is a truly unique role for the right individual. To be able to partner with the key Board members to create a new image for the Society in the Agricultural and Educational community as well as developing the Society’s role in promoting and facilitating the introduction of new technologies to the agricultural and food industries in the region cannot be overlooked.
They wish you to become a key figurehead for the Society for the Agricultural and Educational community and work with the members to improve the performance and image of the Agri Food sectors. There is also a huge scope to extend their educational activities to cover secondary education, college level and career development ongoing.
The opportunities for the Society if directly correctly with your professionalism and input are significant.
What do we want to see from you?
You need to know and understand this sector. You need to be an established member of the agricultural community. To achieve the key role objectives will need good contacts and the ability to quickly gain respect. As you would expect, you will ideally have management experience at general/ functional level in the agri-food industry with budget responsibility combined with proven people management and communication skills. Sound knowledge of farming and agriculture/horticulture is a prerequisite for this role. Education to Degree level or equivalent would be seen as advantageous.
