Our client is at the forefront of the provision of nature-based solutions that help fight climate change in the most natural way. They have an exciting opportunity for you to be a key member of their North Highland forestry team in the role of Forest Manager, based in Aberdeenshire.
In this role you will be responsible for delivering a professional high-quality woodland management service to existing clients together with other on-going forestry related opportunities, including woodland creation. The role includes building sound client relationships and, day to day, the preparation of client estimates, production of reports, implementation and control of work programmes and grant applications, initially in support of more senior forest managers. Candidates should be comfortable working from their own initiative but more importantly working as part of an established Forest Management and Business Support team based within the North Highland Area.
The role offers a healthy balance between on-site and office-based activity. The location of the Aberdeenshire office space is currently being reviewed and you will be involved in this discussion.
About You:
As an experienced forestry professional, with a background in forestry (or other related sector), you are able to demonstrate your strong commercial acumen and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships. In addition, you’ll have:
• Relevant academic qualifications.
• Strong client relationship management and team working skills.
• Strong commercial acumen and ideally at least 2 years’ operational experience.
• Experience of supervising and managing contractors.
• Good knowledge of the UK Forestry Standard and UKWAS.
• Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body is desirable.
• Familiarity with GIS mapping systems.
• Full UK driving licence.
