An independent and highly successful family company majoring on specialty crop growing and processing, seeks a General Manager to assist in all aspects of their future growth.
They require a motivated and entrepreneurial individual, who can run and manage their newly constructed and high-tech processing plant as well as dealing with all aspects of their supply chain from liaising with key growers through to communicating with the final customers.
Key Aim of the Role:
With significant growth opportunities for the business in their existing niche product areas and other specialised seed sectors, they wish for to focus on the efficiencies of the ongoing operation and plan strategically for future profitable growth.
Main Elements of the Role:
- To run and manage their specialised and recently installed seed cleaning plant.
- Procedures & Control – to ensure all process and systems are fit for purpose and modernised as required to include all machinery/plant elements.
- Personnel & Health & Safety – full organisation, recruitment, and motivation of the business teams ongoing. To ensure that a culture of the highest degree of H&S is implemented across the business.
- Reporting – preparation and submission of quarterly business reports highlighting all aspects of the operation and potential marketing and business development opportunities.
- Working closely with their long established key growers and their industrial customers. To include a number of growers visits and various open days and to grow their social media and online presence.
- Environment – to establish the business as an environmental leader in their areas of operation across their whole supply chains.
What we Want to Ideally See from You for the Role:
- You will be a “people person” and an ambassador for the business by being a great communicator with the ability to communicate at all levels.
- Currently you may be in the seed business, or you may be a farm manager or an agronomist or similar and are looking to gain a role that you can grow and progress your career with.
- Ideally you may be degree calibre and if you had BASIS and FACTS qualifications it would be advantageous.
- A good and practical working knowledge of modern machinery.
- A strategic thinker that can develop the business through to its next growth stages.
This role cannot be underestimated.
