Lead. Grow. Make an Impact.
Redfox is delighted to be partnering with one of Ireland’s most progressive and ambitious fresh produce businesses as they seek to appoint an exceptional Farm & Agronomy Manager.
This is far more than a traditional Farm Manager position.
It is an opportunity to become a trusted operational partner within a rapidly expanding business, helping to shape the future of a specialist leafy salad producer supplying many of the UK’s and Ireland’s leading retailers.
With significant investment planned over the coming years, this is an exciting time to join a business that combines entrepreneurial leadership, commercial ambition and a genuine passion for producing outstanding crops.
The Business
Our client is a well-established, owner-led fresh produce business producing approximately 700 acres of high-value outdoor leafy salad crops, supported by modern packing facilities, its own transport operation and an experienced production team.
The business continues to invest heavily in its future and is entering an exciting new phase of development, including major investment in washing and processing facilities that will further strengthen its market position.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the owner, you will take overall responsibility for leading all farming and agronomy operations across the business.
This is a highly visible leadership role where you’ll combine technical agronomic expertise with practical farming management to maximise crop performance, operational efficiency and commercial success.
Alongside day-to-day crop production, you’ll help shape long-term strategy, mentor the next generation of agronomists and play a central role in the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading all crop production across approximately 700 acres of outdoor leafy salad crops.
- Developing and delivering crop production programmes that consistently meet customer requirements.
- Providing technical agronomic leadership across the business.
- Managing cultivation, drilling, irrigation, crop protection and harvesting programmes.
- Planning labour, machinery and operational resources.
- Driving continuous improvements in productivity, crop quality and profitability.
- Leading, coaching and developing the farming and agronomy team.
- Supporting the development of junior agronomists.
- Working closely with packing, logistics and commercial teams.
- Helping shape future investment and business growth.
About You
We’re looking for someone who combines outstanding practical farming experience with strong technical agronomic knowledge.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Significant farm management experience within outdoor vegetables, salads or horticultural crops.
- Strong agronomy knowledge across high-value field crops.
- Proven experience delivering crop production programmes from planning through harvest.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and operational planning ability.
- The confidence to make sound decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- A collaborative, hands-on leadership style.
BASIS and FACTS qualifications would be advantageous, although practical experience and proven ability will be valued just as highly.
The Package
An excellent remuneration package is available for the successful individual and will include:
- Highly competitive salary.
- Performance-related rewards.
- Relocation assistance where required.
- Long-term career progression.
- The opportunity to become a key member of the senior leadership team.
Why Apply?
Opportunities like this rarely become available.
This is your chance to join a financially strong, forward-thinking fresh produce business where your ideas, leadership and technical expertise will directly influence the future direction of the company.
If you’re an ambitious farming professional looking for your next major leadership challenge, we’d love to hear from you.
