This is a totally unique and proven closed-loop growth & nutritional optimisation platform for all crop production. Their state-of-the-art optical remote sensing technology, machine vision and analytics, allow producers to measure plant physiology and proactively adjust parameters for optimised operations. They enable end-to-end control of the process. Thus, resulting in less waste with increased efficiency, improved margins from higher quality, and healthier consumers from the ability to measure and quantify the nutritional content of our food. As they roll out their hugely innovative technology, they will initially major on Vertical Farming, Hydroponics and Protected Cropping systems in the UK, the EU and North America.
To assist this all, they are looking for a Head of Product to join with them and to be instrumental in creating the difference for our client’s business and the sectors they are currently aligned to. They are a UK based, VC backed, full-stack start-up, pioneering remote optical plant phenotyping with machine learning to optimise yield, nutrition and quality of food production.
The changing climate and growth in the global population is putting significant stress on the current methods of food production, exacerbating existing issues of topsoil erosion, chemical treatment, and water scarcity. Our client enables the food industry to tackle these issues through data-driven precision farming and create positive outcomes for the climate by domesticating food production, quantifying supply chain carbon emissions, increasing resource efficiency and unlocking unproductive farmland to be repurposed as carbon sinks through nature-based climate solutions.
What we are looking for…
We are looking for an entrepreneurial Head of Product. You will be responsible for the overall success, growth and profitability of their flagship products. You will represent the ‘voice of the client’ whilst being able to understand and communicate with backing defensible data what the client needs. You will challenge the status quo and see possibility in the unexpected places. You need to thrive in an agile, fast-paced and collaborative environment driven by constantly redefining the gold standard of products and services that help and create a difference to their client bank ongoing. We are looking for you to make a significant difference and assist the rapid acceleration of our client’s business by your expertise and business development skill set.
What will you be achieving…
- Own the Tier 1 client engagements and to take them to the next level or productivity and growth whilst representing the voice of the clients to the rest of the business.
- Define the product roadmap and drive product requirement definition with input from the internal Science, User Experience, Engineering and Strategy leads.
- Work with the User Experience, Science and Engineering teams to deliver feature specifications and designs, prioritizing issues/bugs found during implementation and ensuring high- quality delivery on schedule.
- Collate requirements from both clients and internal stakeholders and accumulate market knowledge of key targeted customers/segments through competitive analysis and market data analysis to develop appropriate commercial strategies to hit revenue and margin targets.
- Work with the management team to build the GTM (go to market) strategy with required launch and external stakeholder plans
- Analyse pricing structure relative to pricing levels in the marketplace, client ROI and internal targets
- Recommend and develop marketing strategies and programs
- Provide technical and application information support to the client and sales team and serve as the primary Sales and Customer Liaison for the Long Tail client base
Who we are looking for…
We need you to have an open mind about the role and the potential of what is being created with this new and unique appointment.
You will need you to have a defined and broad technical knowledge of food/fresh produce/FMCG. If you have experience in Hardware +Software products, that would be also advantageous. This is so you can appreciate the difference that can be created with a vision of the direction of travel for this discussed fresh food innovation that will, at its most basic level, help feed the world ongoing. As such, you may have a background from a technology development company, and you might have a degree in agriculture, science or engineering and want to join our client in this very exciting journey of positive discovery.
We expect you to be able to speak with a high level of credibility about the fresh food sectors and even more so as you progress within the role. You will be comfortable working with senior leaders in major global agri-businesses, VF concerns and key protected cropping businesses as well as with companies from other sectors. You will understand the process of innovation management and ideally how collaborations work between businesses and between industry and academia. Key to this all and to the role is that you see the potential for introducing, aligning and securing key commercial relationships with differing business and differing groups to our clients business to make a significant difference in fresh food ongoing via our clients hugely innovative systems.
As you expect, you will need be a self-starter and have the ability to build work programs from scratch and be ready to roll up your sleeves and get things done. And in addition, to have a sense of humour to life, the universe and everything in general would make you even more endearing to our client!
