We are currently seeking a highly skilled and highly motivated individual to join our client as their International Farms Director. They are a very prominent player in the global fresh produce industry and are renowned for their commitment to delivering high-quality products to customers around the world. With a very strong farming presence in Europe and South America, they operate a network of farms that cultivate a wide range of fresh produce, ensuring a consistent and high quality supply of superior fruits and vegetables throughout the year.
The Role:
As the International Farms Director, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing their overall Farms strategy while ensuring profitability and effective management of their Farms in Europe and South America. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of business operations, people management, and partnerships, as well as driving continuous improvement and innovation in farming practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Farms strategy aligned with the organisation’s overall objectives and long-term vision.
- Lead and manage their International Farming operations, ensuring efficient and profitable operations.
- Foster a culture of excellence and accountability among the farm teams, promoting continuous learning and professional development.
- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with suppliers, distributors, and industry stakeholders to enhance market reach and optimise operational efficiencies.
- Monitor and analyse industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes to proactively adapt their farming practices and capitalise on emerging opportunities.
- Drive initiatives to enhance sustainability, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility across our farming operations.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain, to ensure seamless integration and effective execution of business strategies.
- Monitor financial performance, prepare budgets, and implement cost-control measures to achieve profitability targets.
What We Want To See From You:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the ag/fresh produce industry, with a focus on international farming operations. Experience in the likes of berries or/and pineapples would be advantageous.
- Proven track record in developing and executing successful Farms strategies, delivering profitability, and managing multiple farms across different regions.
- Strong business acumen and financial literacy, with the ability to analyse financial data, make informed decisions, and achieve business objectives.
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a knack for motivating teams and fostering a collaborative work environment, especially in remote people management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of global market trends, agricultural practices, and regulatory frameworks pertaining to fresh produce farming.
- A passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship, with a drive to implement innovative and responsible farming practices.
