Our exclusive client is a highly successful family owned and run fruit business supplying various multiples with ability to expand into other products. Due to their sector-leading success and their natural inclination for “better never stops”, they have created a brand new role within the organisation for an experienced Operations Manager. This role would be ideal for an ambitious individual who wants to utilise his or her skills in a fast and exciting industry; to take the lead on daily operations within packhouse and field operations whilst also researching alternative new products and business ventures for the future.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will assist in all stages of crop production, scheduling, forecasting, harvesting, packing, R&D and varietal development. They will ensure that the company achieves maximum operational efficiencies whilst maintaining the highest standards of excellence & hygiene. The ability to build and nurture relationships at all levels, both within the business and externally with customers and peers is vital to the role.
You will be expected to pro-actively seek to strategically enhance the performance of production with respect to yields, quality, costs and supply.
You will be a natural leader with an exceptional ability to manage and motivate individuals. The ability to effectively communicate at all levels is clearly essential.
This appointment requires a highly capable individual with a thorough understanding of modern protected growing techniques, fast-moving pack house environments and excellent team building capability.
- Ideally educated to degree level
- Proven operational experience in the Fresh Produce sector for minimum 4 years
- Strong knowledge of multiple-retail expectations
- Project management experience
