The business is committed to continuous improvement and professional development, to this end our client is now seeking an experienced Production Manager to join their highly motivated team to help support best growing practice and the continued development of agronomic developments, varieties and trial results to the mutual benefit of the growing group.
Job Purpose:
- Primary agronomic technical contact for the group
- Provide critical and constructive feedback about forecasting and crop production
- Assist with countrywide crop planning and help build group production in line with sales requirements
- Provides technical and agronomic support to UK and overseas growers to assist in their compliance to customer quality requirements.
- Responsible for management of continued agronomic development of varieties and growers.
- The technical link with trial sites and growers to disseminate best practice.
Key Accountabilities:
Seasonal Activities
- Ongoing development of varietal specific soft fruit growing techniques.
- Disseminate best practice across growing regions
- Plan and execute various trials with growers and third parties.
- Annual presentation of novel growing techniques and seasonal learnings to the grower group
- Investigate ways to improve forecast accuracy and modernise production
- Assist with environmental schemes (e.g. de-carbonisation of production, wildflower habitats)
Weekly Activities
- Regular contact with growers to understand crop behaviours.
- Circulate updates from farms to wider business assisting the marketing process.
- Execution of trials
- Collation and analysis of data
- Dissemination of data to growers.
- Identify possibilities to maximise product usage dependent on current market situation
- Troubleshooting/ issue management
This is a highly mobile role that will require extensive travel throughout the UK and overseas, so you must be a highly motivated and driven individual.
Your communication skills and attitude are extremely important to be successful in this role. You must be IT competent, especially with EXCEL.
