Based on the South Coast, our client is a leading grower of berries supplying in to several major UK retailers. Due to recent developments, they are now on the hunt for a highly capable Assistant to support both the company Head of Technical & the Health and Safety Manager.
Purpose of Post: Ensure company compliance with H&S, food safety and environmental policies across the supply chain. To include approving suppliers, packhouses and growers and Liaising with suppliers to collate accurate information and file the records on the due diligence platforms.
Role/Main Duties:
- Conduct H&S Inductions for permanent new starters.
- Manage and perform the internal audit schedule for Technical and H&S. To ensure all audits are carried out to schedule and corrective actions are completed on time.
- Coordinate laboratory testing for sampling products and review and analyse results to identify non-conformances.
- Support the wider operations teams with the adherence to, and maintenance of best practice standards in line with company, customer and BRC standards.
- Understand and proactively maintain and develop the Quality Management System (QMS), HACCP, quality systems and H&S management system.
- Manage supplier approval records and customer complaints.
- Monitor Due Diligence throughout the supply period and investigate any incidences of non-compliance near misses.
- Updating KPI’s for Health and safety and Technical and creation of associated reports.
- Perform supplier recall and traceability exercises.
- Arrange equipment calibration for quality and H&S equipment.
- Maintain the Accident and Near-miss and COSHH database’s.
- Assisting in the creation of Risk assessments and Safe Working Procedures and ensuring they are up to date.
- Conduct H&S Training sessions and toolbox talks and organise external training when out of personal remit.
- Assisting Lead Welfare & Camp Officer with administration duties.
Required:
- BRC/ISO internal auditing experience.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene and HACCP qualifications are preferred.
- Previous experience in a H&S role, either as a safety Representative or having H&S as part of a previous job role.
- H&S Certifications such as IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
- A self-starter with an analytical and methodical approach to work
- A team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
