Redfox is currently talking with an industry leader in Fresh Produce Procurement who is looking for the next chapter in their career be it within purchasing or moving to a more commercial role.
They have worked in buying produce most of their career for a European company and on a pan-European level. Starting at as a recent graduate they now head up all produce buying for the food manufacturer they work for.
Managing a team of 10 employees this person is responsible for the strategic sourcing right the way through to the inbound supply chain for the UK’s multiple sites and everything in between. As an individual they are the “go-to” person for anything produce, both within the business and with their customer base.
It’s not just the experience in produce that makes this high calibre individual stand out. They “get” how important the relationship is within this sector and how that relationship differs in style from country to country. Their networking and relationship building (and keeping!) skills are second-to-none and they are widely respected throughout the supplier base for this.
A big advantage to maintaining good relationships is being able to speak the lingo of course. Our contact is bi-lingual in French and also fluent in Spanish.
In terms of career move, their key motivation is retaining an international element to work they do, as with languages if you don’t use them you lose them. As such they would consider another buying role but not exclusively so. They would for instance be interested in talking to International Producers who are looking to realign their representation arrangements within the UK.
